Wallet. Co-op.

Today was the third (fourth) time I've gone on the Sky-train. Neat. It reminds me of the underground metro system in Hong Kong. Yeah, so I got my wallet back at "Stadium" Station. The guy at the counter was being a jerk, and asking all of these procedural questions about "What's in the wallet, lol?"

ANyway, I got my confirmation letter about the Co-Op Engineering Mining. Lame. I knew I was gonn get in because they need the Miners, and I kind of also feel bad.

28 September 2006

Worst day of the year, easily?

Wow, where to begin.

I wake up at 6:37am, when my grandmother came charging into my room full of fury and hate. I usually woke at 6:26am from my alarm clock (which is actually an iPod Mini that has its volume at maximum beside my bed.), but it didn't go off this time... for the second night in the row. Being a little bit rushed, I still managed to eat my food and laugh it all up. Lol.

I drove to school, with my sister. That was fine. I parked at UBC, backed up a bit, and hit the car behind. Huzzah! Good job. My heart was racing, and I wanted to run away. As soon as I got out of the car, the lady in the other car was standing, looking at me. I looked at the damage with my eyes in disbelief. = (

Yeah, so apparently, I backed in with such a slow velocity that there wasn't even a scratch... on both cars. I got out of trouble with that one, eh?

I walked briskly to LSK building (something that I will one day find out what it means) and attended my class. 8:00 am rolls by. Class? Boring. The instructor doesn't talk loud enough and he mumbles. Three hours later at 9:20 am, I followed my good friends (not really) Brian blank and Kristel blank. Good people, I think. Anyway, I followed them around (because I don't know where the Hyatt hotel is at.), and they still needed to work on their Assignment 3. Lull, it is due today. I follow them around because I don't know. At first, Brian just wanted to print their document. I suggested the Mining building for free printing (free > not free). We went there, and Brian's notebook started shitting itself. Basically, we wasted a good hour and a half trying to connect to the Internet and transfer the files to the Internet and print. No, it didn't happen. They didn't have the Assignment in printed form. Uh oh. We needed to get on the bus to go to Hyatt Hotel for the CIM meeting.

11:05, I am at the UBC bus loop. I got in one of those 44 buses. 30 minutes later, I reached the Hyatt. Malcolm Scoble (The head Faculty person for Mining) asked us to be there by 11:30 am. Yikes. 5 Minutes late. I told you I was having a bad day.
Anyway, we reached the third floor (where the event was being held) and I got inside inconspicuously. At around noon, the event started. Food was being served. First up was some sort of green-ish fake paper-like food. I think they called it a "Sal-lid", some sort of Indian food, obviously. It was served with Bread and butter. The green stuff didn't taste that good. Next on the menu was some sort of Fish with some sort of wheat thing. Fillet fish = disgusting when it has this Orange disgusting sauce. I asked the waiter (Not I, as in me, but I as in someone else.) what it was, and she said some French Name. I only picked up on the "Poisson". Damn french and their orange sauce. I hated it. Finally, there was this dessert. Green and tasty. It was a pie-ish thing of some kind. Delicious. A bit sour and sweet.

Then, I realised the whole meeting was a trap! A guy came up and thanked everyone for showing up. He then started presenting some new copper mine in the Yukon. What. The. Frell. He kept on rambling on and on about the Minto Project. Who the Frak cares? Absolutely terrible. I was struggling to stay awake despite drinking a cup of black coffee right before. When the effects of the coffee slightly waned, I drifted into sleep. (Truth be told, the thing wasn't that boring. It was actually quite informative in some ways. I didn't get much sleep the night before though.)

Bam! The presentation ended at 1:30pm. Thank Goodness. I really needed to pee. So, 15 minutes later (don't ask why, lol), I met up with my super good friends Vincent, Jerome, Brian, and Kristel. Talked a bit, and we got on our chartered bus to Vancouver Wharf at exactly 2:00. I sat with my super good buddy Nelson, an international student from Indonesia. Good guy, I think. Yeah, once we got to the Vancouver Wharf, we were shown some slides about how it operated. It is basically a place that holds various minerals and products, and puts them on ships bounded for China. They also unload some other stuff and transport it elsewhere using the nearby rail. It earns crazy monies. From the presentation, it looks like Vancouver Wharf has a monopoly on all of the mineral exports. Bastards. I hate monopolies. Immediately after the slide show, we got back on the bus. It was exactly at that moment that I started to need to pee. You see, during the presentation, these crafty Wharf-ians put out FREE bottles of WATER. Bastards. I drank the water during their piss-poor presentation to stay awake. Lol.

The bus ride was fairly informational. We navigated around the place and stuff like that. I finally saw the Giant Sulfur pit, where they filmed STARGATE SG1's season one episode "COLD LAZURUS". Huzzah. We got out of the bus to take a lame picture and left. Let me tell you this: if you need to pee, and you're on a bumpy ride in a bus, you really find that you really need to pee. Indeed. I held it in for around one hour.

At 5:00 pm, we're back at the Hyatt Hotel. I briskly walked to the washroom and... you know >_>. I left, and briskly walked to the bus stop where a 98 bus southbound was already there. I briskly got inside the bus and used my trusty U-Pass. I played with my NDS (NSMB. I'm trying to collect all the coins again.) I got off at 5:47pm in Richmond.

Briskly, I walked to the time-pole, and saw that my next bus is at 5:51pm. Huzzah! 404 for the win.

I slowly started to walk to the station, trying to find my wallet. I stopped walking to look for my wallet. I dropped my backpack to look for my wallet. I opened all of the compartments of my backpack to look for my wallet. I started to feel my pants with my hands in the hopes to find a wallet. I was feeling, and feeling, and feeling. No wallet. My wallet is missing. I panicked. I didn't know what to do. I called my sister to ask her where she was (because I needed a ride home, lole). She was tutoring someone. Next, I made a call home to ask my mother to pick me up. Next, I called Translink to ask for advice. The Translink-Lady asked a bunch of question. "Where did you drop it? Which bus were you on?" I told the trans-lady that I was Southbound 98 headed towards Richmond Centre. I told her which seat I was on. About 10 minutes later, she says the driver of the bus has found a wallet with those matching details (name, street, monies, u-pass.) Now, I have to go DOWNTOWN to pick it up. BULLSHIT.

This is easily the worse day of my life. I can't even begin to fathom how this day could be worst. GOOD GRACIOUS I AM SAD. I AM GOING TO KILL MYSELF NOW. GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD.

(I started typing this when I posted my last message, lawl. It sometimes takes a bit of time to gather up your thoughts.)

This, coincidentally, is my 365th post. That's not to say that I have blogged one year. It just means that I did some things I'm not proud of.

Amazon shipped.

Nightfall, good?

At least the pre-release, I think.

Yeah, so I'm getting the "shipped" status 13 days after the ordering. Good Job, Amazon, for having more orders at the time than actual units!

Looks good to me.

I am sick.

Of body and mind.

I don't feel well. I think I have the flu or something. It is flu season, right?

Yeah. So, tomorrow, I'm going to a Luncheon at the Waldorf (Hyatt Hotel, actually.) Fifteen dollars for a fifty dollar meal. That sounds fantastic to me.

25 September 2006

Fly-by-your-pants

I have to stop torturing myself with these last-minute deadlines. I mean, I feel just awful at the time of submission because I'm just too tired to do anything. I have listed out ways I can avoid doing these kind of things.

1) Do any homework first.
2) ???
3) Profit!

24 September 2006

Working on a new Story Idea.

Once again, I can't say what it is, fearing that I might quit midway. I probably will quit midway anyway, like last time with my zombie story.

My reason for just throwing that whole thing into the fire is that Zombies are cliched. That, and my story is basically Dead Rising. Seriously. I had the whole zombies in a mall idea, with the people and the monsters and the bad people too. I also know that I can't possibly be better than Dead Rising (which is pretty sad in itself) in that DR is more humourous.

Yeah, so I won't even say what idea I have. I am writing this to kind of mark when I begun in case I actually did complete it.

22 September 2006

Completely transfered.

Huzzah, the file transformation is done after getting excruciatingly bad errors with the timeout systems.

In retrospect, however, I probably should have spent that time working on my many assignments due today.

20 September 2006

Eragon, sigh.

I've just finished reading the part where...

*Spoilers* Brom dies. *Spoilers*

Yeah, so that whole affair seems ridiculous. Eragon, thus far, seems to be an unemotional robot (in sharp contrast with the emotional ones), so I don't know how over the course of about 3 months, he can say that Brom is like a father to him. Bleh. And almost right after, he says that he is truly a rider now, but that's not true. Eragon is still a shitty loser with special powers, especially when he says that "He had no idea that Brom was a Rider." Why're you so stupid,  you idiot. The clues were all there. Argh

Anyway, I don't like how they just replaced Brom with another character. It seems to me that Paolini can't or don't really like to write scenes involving more than two people. Telepathy doesn't count.

19 September 2006

Free burgers. I love them.

I have to thank Shell for my free lunch. I can't complain about it, being free and all. I did enjoy it. Good job.

You killed us twice. Steel Bridge, UBC

I've reluctantly joined the Steel Bridge project at UBC. I'm still not quite sure how that all came to happen.

Weird.

LOL.

18 September 2006

12 hour school day.

GG, this appears to be the norm from now on. =/

Mondays, I'll have a 12 hour day.

Settlers 2 is gone from abandonware site.

I guess I should have checked it out before posting. It looks like because the DS version is coming out, the software creators have disabled the download.

Hm.

Holy shi-

I didn't know that this game was coming out. Settlers is one of my favorite games ever. I originally came into contact with this game as a pirated software on one of those illegal cd compilations. I fell in love with it.

Now, this game (which is a port of Settlers II) is coming on the Nintendo DS. I want it, and I'll probably buy it. It is also available (free, and legally, apparently) as abandonware.

This is the best case mod I've ever seen.

Just pure awesome!

I want one, but I don't have the will and skill to do something like that.

17 September 2006

Fall is here, in Vancouver.

I think the consistant rain is a very good indication that this is, indeed, the Fall (or Autumn, as some like to call it.) I much rather like this slow transition phase, how it is still relatively bright outside, and isn't too hot. Soon, however, it will be all dark and cold and damp outside when I leave school, and I will be greeted with the same dark, cold, and damp exterior when I come home. Goodbye, Mr. Blue Sky.

Excellent.

I was thoroughly feeling bad when I came home from "late night worship".

I don't think I like it at all.

It is too bad that I sold myself to two visits for just 30 pieces of chicken nuggets.

Judas got a better deal, in my opinon.

14 September 2006

Wii, Wii, and more Wiis.

I'll be getting one (1) Wii Console on launch, along with one (1) copy of Twilight Princess. That's all for now. I'll wait for the reviews maybe 1-2 weeks later before purchasing another game, at which time, I'll pick up another controller + nunchuck.

13 September 2006

I feel like I need a four day weekend already.

Bleh. I got home at 7:30pm. I left home at 7:00am.

Anyway, I... am finding less and less time everyday to do the stuff I like, and I'm not even doing a good job at school right now. Maybe my mind is still in Summer mode or something. Rawr. So, tomorrow, I have this project thingie due, and my whole team is uber ill-prepared. I'll have to do some uber fudging before I sleep. Bah.

11 September 2006

Hm. Car Insurance?

I just had a thought. Why do people even need Car Insurance? It seems to be all bogus to me. So, I'm paying ICBC to say to them that I won't crash my car? And if I do, I'll have to pay even more? Lame

I feel awful about my new back pack now.

It is the same exact model with a different colour.

It is like replacing a good friend (Terrence Wong, for example) with another person named Terrence Bong. They're exactly the same in everyway except for their colour, and the fact that I've used Wong until he is all icky and falling apart.

>_>

September 11, 2006

Five years ago, at about this time, I happened to turn on the television to Fox and I saw something unique. The first plane had already hit the tower and the anchors kept on replaying the entire affair. At first, I had a sense of unusual giddiness. It was a feeling that something was finally happening that was earth shattering. Then the second plane hit the tower. Then, the towers fell. I had an awkward sense of joy and shock. I know that sounds awful, and it is. I was kinda happy that something was happening. I also felt that America deserved what was coming for a long time. I don't know what exactly spawned my anti-Americanism, but I'm not really proud of it now.

10 September 2006

That is it! I've had it with these mother------- scratches on my mother ------- ___.

So, my back-pack has been extremely irritating for a while now. I've had the same back-pack for the last four or five years. It has been a hella long time.Unfortunately, time and use seem to contribute to wear and tear. I mean, it is just in terrible condition. Since about two year, the original shoulder straps have been broken. The plastic thing connecting the two parts just broke off. Ever since then, I had been tying the two parts together with a makeshift knot on the other plastic thing.

There's been other problems with the bag, but I decided against replacing it. A back pack is something that you cherish and enjoy. It is also something unique that is with you for most of your days. Some people might be too shy with their feelings to call their back-pack a friend, but not me. My back-pack was a friend to me.

I stress the word was  because my relationship with the old back-pack has been terminated. Half a year ago, I found a tear between the different compartments of the bag. Things from one side could and did slide between compartments. Smaller things that I keep in the smaller compartment, like pencils and pens, would just disappear underneath my various binders. It is frustrating! That's not all. All the zipper with the metallic tag has come off. I mean, if you were to look at my bag, it would just have these zippers without any easily pull-able thing. Even worse, the zipper occasionally gets stuck on the coils and even comes off of it.

Today, I had finally come to terms with my terminal friend. On my way to the bus stop, with my good and anxious friend  Jacky, one of my back pack's shoulder straps came off. The second plastic thing was torn from the plastic thingie. (Hey, you probably don't know the technical names of those parts either! Stop bitching at me. Whaaaa!) That's no good. Combine this with the fact that ever since last week, I've been getting wicked bad scratches from the plastic thingie's rough torn edge. I think I've already alluded to that in a previous post. Ugh. This time, it scratched a previously injured part, making the cut even more deep. Blood ensued. This back-pack must go. Sorry friend, I've tried to keep you alive for as long as possible, but now you're damaging me. I can't rely on you anymore. Don't hate me for abandoning you. Sorry. I'll remember all the time you carried all of my important books for me; how you provided a strong and big compartment for me; how you even became a pillow for me to rest my head upon. I'll miss you for all the good times we've had.

09 September 2006

Dune 7, what the ----?

So, I'm finished Dune 7 now, a good 51 hours after I first borrowed it.

For the most part, the story was solid. You can really tell which parts of the story seemed to belong to the original novel. Then, there are other non-sensical parts. Nevermind the "end of the world" cliche and the "good versus evil" thing. I'm irked about how Alia is within the Baron Harkonnan's ghola. I mean, how does that make sense at all? Alia is the Baron's granddaughter. KJA and BH are probably going to have some bullshit about the fact that Alia is the one who killed the Baron and vice versa.

Ugh.

Oh, and the end of the world bullshit is pretty lame too.

08 September 2006

I don't like it when the Prof makes a mistake.

I waited for my Mech class with about a hundred others for one hour because our Prof (not really his fault, more of a Student Services Centre thing) thought that the class started at 3:00 instead of 2:00.

Anyway, in the end, he was notified of the problem and will change his other class (which also starts at 2:00) because that class only has 40 compared with our 150.

Scratches.

My backpack has been irratating me by relentlessly scratching my skin every time I put it on. Seriously, there are like four or five difference visible scratches already.

I might post pics, I might not though.

Revision from the last post

The guy that the album is based on is NOT Lenin, but Leon Trotsky.
Both were heavily involved in the communist revolution in Russia at the time, so I just got that part confused.

I'm really digging Permanent Revolution now.

Permanent Revolution, by Catch 22 (And no, I did not make up this term.) is a concept album that is really neat. It is the story of Lenin (that darn communist!)
Not much more to say about that.

Also fun, is Dune 7. I'm enjoying reading that much more than I thought I would, for sure. There is definitely a difference in the way the story is written. My major gripe is the incorporation of ideas from the Dune Prequels which I find hard to believe that Frank Herbert designed the plot like so.

07 September 2006

Sleepless.

I need to sleep earlier. I think I'll just burn out really quickly with only 7 hours a day.

I have to start sleeping at like 10:30 now.

06 September 2006

Mission Accomplished.

So, I'm finally home after an excruciatingly horrible bus experience.

Anyway, I talked to my Statistic Professor and he said that its okay and that I should just keep the course in term one. Huzzah.

The bad news is that I have classes at 8:00 every morning for sure. Even worse, I have to make a long walk from the Forestry building to the Math building right afterwards =(.

Yes, anyway, the bus ride home was terrible. My last class ended at 2:00 today. I waited for the 480. It didn't come. The line was really full (90+) waiting at the bus stop. Why not just hop on the 41 bus and transfer on the 98? The 98 comes every 6-9 minutes (at peak hours). I did so, and at the place where I was supposed to transfer, I found out that the 98 is delayed. The sign said that the first one was going to come in 15 minutes.

Twenty-Five minutes later, the first one arrived. By now, there were about 70 people waiting for the bus. I didn't stand a chance in getting into the first one, but then again, nobody else did because the bus driver just dropped two people off and sped off again.

Five minutes later, the second bus arrived and there was a huge mob that went for the entrance. Maybe I could have tried harder, but I didn't.

I got in the fourth bus, and it was still a tight squeeze.

At around 4:00, I got home. The trip usually only takes 30 minutes in a car.

I have made a big "tiny" mistake.

So, I was trying to accommadate my sister's schedule into mine. She had her Monday, Wednesday, Friday classes at 8:00 and I had my Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00. I was like "eh, why not" and switched one of my second term clases into first term's 8:00 MWF slot.

Now, I realise that the class' pre-requisite is one of the classes in the first term and it is too late to switch back. This means that I have to go and talk to one of those Student Service Centre people. Argh. I hate this.

05 September 2006

I see.

Looks like the Mining class is about 20 people. Huzzah!

A little late, but still appropriate

Nervous, Unprepared.

This is the Eve of the first day of class, and I am not sure that I am entirely prepared. By this time last year, I had tracked down all of my books. I have one book right now. I also had this awesome calendar thing last year from the Engineering Undergrad Society. I don't have mine yet.

Perhaps the reason I'm feeling awful is that my regular sleeping time lately has bee about 3am. I slept at around 2am last night(this morning). Now, I have to wake up at a delightful 6:30am tomorrow. Oh boy.

I am anticipating a super awesome-adventured filled adventure this coming September, as I contemplate about joining Co-op at all. My sister's man-buddy has been telling me that the Business is booming right now, and that any student will get 2-3 offers right off the bat. Maybe I'll do as he says and not join co-op. I don't know. The dead-line is September 15, so meh.

Most of all, I'm just sad that I'm finished watching Arrested Development. What an awesome show. Sigh.

In case you haven't heard...

Best buy has the worst service ever.

Alright. I purchased Star Fox Command for the NDS. Bestbuy had the best price. If I bought it instore, I pay 35 dollar and I get a gift card. I found out that if I ordered online, I only have to pay 25 dollars without a gift card. Obviously, that is the best thing ever, right?

I decided to go purchase it online to pick it up instores. Big mistake. Best Buy from at least 10:45 to 11:30, only has one person working there. It wouldn't be a problem if the lady was quick, but they weren't. After standing in line for about half an hour, I finally got to the front. She gets me the game, and she tries to check it out. Nope, it didn't work. Apparently there is a bug that says that exclusively prevents me from buying the game. Everytime she tried to check it out through her magical laser machine, there'd be an error saying that the game is reserved for someone. That someone was I, but it didn't seem to care.

So, finally, after a whole hour, I got the game.

And it isn't even a real Star Fox game. Nintendo basically just branded a Turn Based Shooter Starfox. Where are my rails? I want a true Star Fox game.
