Exam finished 9:15pm; I left at 9:07pm. Again, there wasn't anything too hard from the exam. The curious thing was that it was almost exactly like the practice exam. I think I got ~80+/100, assuming I really screwed up.
Yeah. My grandma went to recheck the heart today, and it was fine. So, she doesn't need to do the surgery in HongKong.

I'm typing this at 6:08 at UBC. The open book-exam starts at 7:00pm.
I think I'm prepared, but I never know.

First Exam of 2006, on Tuesday Night.
Oh boy, this is going to be tough.
And it is an open book exam, which is worse in some ways.

I'm a bit worried about my Grandmother. She had her final checkup before the supposed surgery today. The doctor responsible for the surgery has said that there is an irregularity in her heartbeat (methinks from being scared) and that he doesn't want to operate.
My mother has said that if they refuse to operate, they will both go to Hong Kong and get a private doctor to do it.
And it is an open book exam, which is worse in some ways.

Church-Day is fun-day!
That's right! I went to church today. There was a dinner. It was ALL good.
Except for the fact that there were these three little weiner kids.
The two bigger ones were maybe grade three, and the younger one I do not know. The two big ones burst into rooms and then the smaller one comes into it. The smaller one always looks around, gets scared, and then run away screaming.
It was funny the first couple of times, but when it is all that these one-trick ponies do, ugh!

The two kids (grade 1?) had this game called "Let's hit Christopher." and they would try to hit me. Now, I obviously don't like the game, so I run away from them.
I have to run away because
1) They were kids, I can't beat them.
2) Their parents are usually watching.
3) They won't listen to reason.
The worse part is that the parents think that I'm playing with them. They say things like "Oh, you're such a kind person playing with little kids." I can't really argue with a compliment like that, can I?

The monthly meetup wasn't high-production, which is great in my opinion.
There was five of us just playing games and watching programs.
It was nice.
Of course many of us had to go be with our families for the annual traditional dinner, but it was fun being with those guys again.

It's... Green.
Thank goodness it is Friday. After this whole sleepless week, I really need some quality sleep.
Yeah. Friday means another three assignments. I am ashamed to say, but I did do some "copying", or at least consulted/checking answers with another individual. It isn't so bad though. I only copied the formulas used for the questions, which I guess is completely legal. But argh, it is really tiring to rush three assignments. I semi-promised myself that I wouldn't leave it on the last day, but I guess starting late at the night before doesn't really count either.
Tomorrow is the moonth-ly meeting. Great and spectacular things are bound to happen.

TSM Episode 17: Surgery Date, DS Lite, Faculty Open House, and Super Monthly Party?
Surgery
In my last post, I claimed that the surgery date was January 31, but that isn't true. Before we found out about the cancer, my grandmother was supposed to go see this other doctor to have something else examined. That examination isn't necessary anymore. Anyways, the real date is Feb 6th.
DS Lite: I knew this was going to happen. I trust Lik Sang, a retail importer, more than any PR from any company. I even told my friend the day the rumour was dismissed that a new DS would be announced.
The unit itself is pretty nice. The reduced size is much needed in my opinion. The old DS is like a brick. Seriously.
I am seriously considering buying it.
Mining Faculty Open House:
The whole tour was pretty nice. It turns out that the Mining industry kind of decides how many people gets into the faculty. They are essentially "ordering" the students for hiring. Apparently, four years ago, when the industry wasn't doing so well, they only let FOUR people through. Since the whole mining business is booming financially, they are letting around 35 people in.
I am seriously considering going into mining.
Side note: Mining is booming economically because of the instability of the US economy. Minerals will always be more useful than fictional/non-tangible stocks. Gold/Silver/Platinum are slowly going up in value again.
Super Monthly Party?
Aye, I don't know what's happening. A good friend of mine is super ill and is coughing up blood continuously. It looks like he won't make it through the night, much less until Saturday.
Hopefully I can have the details to everything planned out Friday afternoon, or this "party" will be delayed until Sunday/next saturd-day.

Cancer + Grandmother = ???
My mother and grandmother went to the hospital again to check out the details of the cancer. Again, they tried to reassure her, but because of a language barrier, my grandmother is still concerned. The good thing is that her surgery date is coming up really soon. I think the date when she will be admitted to the hospital is January 31 and that the whole ordeal should be over soon.
She keeps reminding me how her scar from removing her kidney stones felt. Cutting up a part of the intestines must be much more painful. Tis a sad fact.
In other news, I am apparently not a free person. My parents (mostly mother) vehemently opposes the idea of me studying a certain disciplane of engineering; one that will require me to move to remote cities. It isn't because they miss me. They told me that it was because they need someone to take care of them ( with translating the mail or something.) This angers me. For now, I am saying that I will think about it and that I will continue in this study. I am "saying" that I "probably" won't move. Lawl, this is a lie.

I have a funny story. Funny: Ha Ha.
My grandmother was diagnosed with some sort of intestinal cancer.
The doctors said that it is still relatively new, so it can be removed harmlessly.
I guess that's the funny story. She is 78 years old and is now extremely worried about her life.

I have just been resting all weekend. It feels good to do nothing once in a while.
While laying on my bed, I had an epiphany.
Companies(like Canadian Tire) don't want to sell reusable-self powered flashlights because they want to sell batteries.

My day without an MP3 player...
I cried. It was too sad and too horrible. Everything in my life was falling apart because I didn't have audio content on demand!
What else would I do while the professor was lecturing? Nothing! That's what!
It wasn't that the audio content was great. The audio just gave me something to do, something to think about.
Now I appreciate my Ipod even more. After leaving it at home for two days, it magically works again. I don't know how to explain it. I don't know what happened. Call it divine intervention or something, but I can now see my addiction to content on demand.

Fence Update?
We drafted a letter saying that the fence problem was in no way our fault and that we'd pay up to 150 dollars to fix it.
This happened on Sunday Night (15 Jan06) and he hasn't responded back yet.

My Ipod has died again (4th time)
My Gen 4 Ipod has died again. This is the forth time it has happened.
I was just plain listening to music in my car through my car's cassette tape systems. I had to stop by a friends house to drop something off. When I came back, it no longer functioned. At that time, I thought it was just some dead batteries, but now that I'm home, it clearly doesn't function plugged into the power adapter.
Thankfully, Apple's recovery service is top-notch. I just send in a request and they give me a box. Within one week, they have a replacement for me.
My only complaint is that this is the fourth (or fifth, I forget) time it has happened since I won this Ipod Dec 2004.

Man has decided to become "Civilized".
Silly guy, we don't fuck dirtbags.
My hope is that I can borrow a friend's recording device and talk to him once more. I want to see if he makes those threats against us again. I mean that will get him in trouble, right? Especially if he threatens us by mentioning his connections to the government.
Trivia: The previous owner of that house was busted for Marijuana growth. I wonder if this owner had any connection. Either buying it cheap after the owners were jailed or otherwise.

The fences around my area are all fairly old. They've been there for more than twenty years. Several times a year, when there are really strong winds, some of our fences will fall down.
This year is no different.
Everything was fine... except that one of my neighbors has demanded that we pay for the fixing of the fence.
The neighbor lives in a corner lot and I live next to it. His backyard is connected to our driveway. The fence between our driveway and his backyard fell down.
Today he threatened to sue us. He claims that we hit the fence with our car when we obviously didn't. The thing was that two meters away, between where our backdoor and his back yard is, the fence also fell. There is no way for our car to drive there. It was obviously not our fault. He claims that because he put in a steel pole behind the yard, along with some flimsy wires, that the fence should have held the wind. The problem with his theory is that it is that the wires can't hold the wood up. That, and it is not really touching his side of the fence. It wouldn't hold anything up.
So I told him that I understand it is a problem for him. He says that the fencing is related to both of us, but I don't really think so. It doesn't affect us if his fence is down. I told him that I'd relay the information to the owner.
He told me that I'm pissing him off. He said, "I'm not the kind of guy you want to fuck with. I've got connections. I help Campbell with his election. I'm one mother fucker you don't want to mess with."

Animal Crossing
Yeah right.
We had problems connecting through Wifi Connection at the beginning. I could enter her town but she couldn't enter mine. I assumed it was some weird problem with both of our routers, but it turns out that she was incompetant.

We had problems connecting through Wifi Connection at the beginning. I could enter her town but she couldn't enter mine. I assumed it was some weird problem with both of our routers, but it turns out that she was incompetant.
I had to literally walk her through the steps to do everthing.
